A real nice looking package in my opinion. I will post shooting reports of the gun out of the box in the near future. Apparently the gun is very similar to the Crosman Phantom and can use the same 1000 spring and piston set making this gun easily upgradeable to those specs. That said rumour also has it that you can bump it up even higher to the Benjamin super streak specs when the company releases those upgrade parts. Something I would not mind doing.

I have checked the Crossman site and found that they know have a parts list for the Benjamin super streak. I have compared the Phantom piston from the Phantom parts list and it appears to be different then the super streak. Can I use the super streak piston and spring in the Classic or must I use can I only use the Phantom's parts.
ReplyDeleteI checked with a guy who sells crosman guns and this is what he said regarding the piston etc.
ReplyDelete"The diagrams are not usually "exact" in their representation of things- so what appears on the diagram may/may not be accurate. There is a different part number on each of the two pistons, and the SS parts are just starting to become available. Crosman can't confirm the pistons are in fact different (don't seem to want to put two next to each other to compare it seems), but say they "must be" because of the different part numbers. People have upgraded the Classic .22 using the Quest/Phantom piston, so there is no reason why the piston wouldn't work the other way around.
What the differences are, specifically, I will know late next week when the next parts shipment comes in. I suspect there will be nothing worth talking about- the increased velocity from the SuperStreak appears to be solely because of the increased barrel length."
Hi losttourist
ReplyDeleteWhat pellets would you recommend for the Classic?
The new NPSS from Crossman seems to be using the same trigger as the Classic. I tried replacing the trigger on my Classic with one from Charlie da Tuna and found that his trigger was a little shorter and did not feel right in the Classic so I put the stock trigger back. The stock trigger is good, but I just wanted a better trigger because I really like the Classic. I latter put it into my Phantom and it works really well.
I also tried adding a few washers for more power into the Classic, but found that the rifle would not cock.
How is your Classic, and have you done any other modifications since the tune?
Hi
ReplyDeleteto date I have done no further mods to the classic. I find that Im very happy with the way she shoots. So at this time I feel the power I have gained is sufficient for my needs. I really like using the RWS Hobby pellets on this and my phantom. I find I have excellent accuracy with these. Thanks for the info on your tune up.
Your classic 22 have the same look of Canadian Tire version. If you take a look to D&L airguns the (true i supposed) classic 22 have the same body of super streak.
